1964 Porsche 356 SC
The Porsche 356 SC may as well have been named the “better Beetle”. This vehicle went into production 10-years after VW released the first Beetle, and Porsche made it better in every single way. Obviously the design cues share the most similarities, but even here the 356 seems to prevail. Unshackled from the cumbersome nature of a family-sized car, this Porsche was meant for performance, which resulted in a much sleeker compact body style. Marry that to a 95 HP 1.6 L flat-four engine (double the VW’s power) and you get one of the most sought-after sports cars of the 1960’s.
